I have been scanning some old Ektachrome slides that are over 40 years old. Most have a magenta to red cast to them and some are almost faded completely away. Interspersed into the group are a few Kodachromes. What a difference. They are still vibrant and fade free.
This is my first attempt at trying to color correct and restore the faded images. I need more practice, but I’m pretty pleased with the general direction and final result. I started out with the adjust levels option in Photoshop. I used the eye dropper tools to pick a white point and a black point. That process removed most of the color tint. I then used the hue/saturation tool to dial in the saturation a bit. I need to work on the mid-tones. I’m not happy with the tones in the faces.
