Filing my taxes is way down the list of things I enjoy doing, but TurboTax has made this process much easier over the past several years. That is until this year…
I have been unable to successfully install and update the software and based on the traffic they are getting on their message boards others are feeling my pain as well.
I have tried all of the solutions they offered in their support forums from cleaning the cd disk to installing in safe mode. I disabled my firewall, virus protection software, etc., etc. The only way I can get the software to install is to hit the “ignore” button on all of the windows that pop up during the process. I thought if I could at least get the software on my machine I could then download and install a manual update. Nope – doesn’t work.
I think they have a really crappy installation CD on their hands this year and unless they address the problem in a straight foward way they are going to lose a boat load of customers next year. I bought my version at Costco – I don’t thing they’ll take software back once it has been opened, but I’ll sure tell them that Turbo Tax sucked this year and they need to offer their customers something else next year.
The folks that produced this crappy installation need to get a downloadable version on their website soon – or at least give us some reasonable way to get our taxes done this year. I would gladly use their premier online version, but I will not pay for it twice. Give me free access and maybe – big maybe – I’ll try them again next year. Most people are pretty cranky at tax time and they don’t need the additional frustration of crappy software.
