Still trying to get Windows XP reinstalled on my son’s machine. I have wiped both hard drives, gone through the reinstall process and it just won’t boot up. I’m not sure if something is wrong with my installation CD so I am trying a bootable disk I found on bootdisk.com.
Here’s a reminder for myself on how I created the bootable cd:
Here’s the Method To Create A Bootable CD From An ISO Image File
(I have Roxio EasyCd Creator or something like that.)
1. Put the blank CD in your drive,
2. Start Easy CD Creator
3. Select “File”, “Record CD from CD Image….”
4. From the browse window that comes up, select the type of file
5. Then browse for the image file
6. When found, select it
7. Select “Open”
8. Answer any dialog boxes that may appear
9. Select “Start Recording”
That worked so I am now writing zeros to the hard drive and then I’ll create a partition and then copy my files to the C: drive. Hopefully I’ll be able to sucessfully install from there. If not I might be trying Linux next…
