My wiki was (w)hacked

I setup a wiki on my server some time ago to get some experience with the software. I used it initially to track some research I was doing on product development and photo agencies. I “protected” it from view by using a password-protected directory and since I wasn’t keeping any sensitive information there I wasn’t really worried about people snooping around.

I logged back into it yesterday to retrieve some product development documents and found it had been taken over by some keyword spammers. Every page was replaced with spam-rich keywords. It was fairly trivial for me to revert back to my original pages, but what a pain. I’m sure there is some way to do this for the entire site, but at this point I think I’ll just archive the content up and point to it from my weblog. If I do decide to keep it up I’ll need to dig into the security a bit more and try to lock it down.
