I like restoring old photos for friends and family. Here is a recent example of what is an all too common occurrence with family photos – faded prints.
As you can see from the original photo below, the photo exhibits a strong red color cast, scratches and dust spots.
I scanned the image using my Epson V750 scanner and then color corrected it in Adobe Lightroom. I adjusted the basic levels and then removed noise, scratches and dust spots. I also added a bit of grain back into the image to even out the grain that is apparent in the scan. This version is much better, but could still use some work.
